Carter Cove Park

June 16, 2017, Donna and I took a weekend trip to Lake Nimrod with Hannah and Brayden. We didn't have a reservation and we were not familiar with the parks at Lake Nimrod. We drove through the River Road Campground at highway 7 on the discharge side of the Nimrod dam.  The dam was releasing lots of water and had a funky smell so we opted to continue west along the north side of the lake on highway 60 toward Plainview. We drove through Quarry Cove Campground then on to Carter Cove Park. We claimed campsite #32. I registered with the camp host Preston. Preston and I had a conversation about retirement. Preston had retired after 27 years with Walmart as a truck driver earlier in the year. I told Preston that Donna had retired the day before. He gave me a high five and told me we were set.

Brayden and I got up on Saturday morning to got to the fishing pier.

Saturday afternoon we took a trip to the Nimrod dam. It was pretty impressive with the gates apparently fully open.
